Entry Level Ayush Hospitals Certification Programme
The Entry Level Ayush Hospitals Certification Programme supports AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, Sowa Rigpa, and Homeopathy) hospital in adopting essential quality and safety practices. As small scale AYUSH hospitals may find it difficult to implement all the accreditation standards, NABH has developed Entry Level AYUSH Hospital standards incorporating inputs from experts, stakeholders, NABH’s technical committee and peer review.There is a single standard compiled for all specializations in AYUSH that are in alignment to the Hospital Standards.
- Quality Framework for Traditional Systems:
This programme equips AYUSH hospitals with a structured foundation for delivering safe, ethical, and standardised care that respects traditional principles while meeting modern quality expectations. - Enhanced Community and Patient Trust:
Certification strengthens public confidence by demonstrating that treatments are delivered in hygienic environments by qualified professionals following regulated practices. - Consistency Across Departments:
From OPD to inpatient and pharmacy, the programme encourages consistent documentation, care protocols, and infection control practices across the hospital. - Insurance Access:
Insurance Access-Certified AYUSH hospitals are better positioned to qualify for insurance tie-ups. - Capacity Building for Growth:
With NABH’s support through training and implementation resources, these hospitals can build operational maturity and prepare for future accreditation.
• AYUSH Hospitals under the following categories:
a) Central or State Government AYUSH hospitals.
b) NABH accredited AYUSH hospitals.
c) Teaching hospitals attached to AYUSH colleges recognised by the Central Government / Central Council of Indian Medicine / Central Council for Homoeopathy.
d) Any standalone or other AYUSH Hospital set up for inpatient and day-care AYUSH therapeutic interventions, fulfilling the following:
i) At least 5 in-patient beds.
ii) Qualified nursing staff (AYUSH therapist) available round the clock.
iii) Qualified AYUSH practitioner in-charge 24/7.
iv) Dedicated AYUSH therapy sections.
v) Maintains daily patient records, accessible to authorised representatives of insurance companies.

NABH Secretariat organises Programme on Implementation (POI) sessions to guide AYUSH hospitals in implementing NABH standards. These are led by senior NABH assessors and conducted on request. POI is optional.
