Primary Stroke Centres Certification Programme
The Primary Stroke Centres Certification Programme is designed for hospitals that provide time-sensitive interventions for stroke patients. It ensures availability of essential stroke care infrastructure, trained personnel, and protocols for rapid diagnosis and treatment. Certification focuses on building the hospital’s capacity to manage acute strokes effectively and align with evidence-based practices. It helps facilities improve clinical outcomes, reduce disability, and serve as reliable stroke referral centres in their region.
- Rapid Response, Better Outcomes:
This programme ensures that stroke centres have the necessary protocols, trained personnel, and infrastructure in place to deliver timely interventions—such as thrombolysis—within the critical window period. - Standardised Clinical Care:
From emergency triage to post-stroke monitoring, the certification ensures adherence to evidence-based protocols, improving patient outcomes and reducing complications. - Team-Based Approach:
Certified centres maintain a 24×7 stroke team, including neurologists, trained nurses, and radiologists, to deliver coordinated and effective care. - Diagnostic Readiness:
Centres are required to have round-the-clock imaging and lab capabilities, such as CT, MRI, ECG, and blood tests, to support swift diagnosis and decision-making. - Recognition in Stroke Care Ecosystem:
Certified Primary Stroke Centres earn trust from patients, families, and referring clinicians, enhancing visibility in stroke networks and critical care systems.
