Strengthening Traditional Care through NABH–AYUSH AELC Initiative

The NABH Ayush Entry-Level Certification (AELC), launched under the National AYUSH Mission (NAM), is a key quality improvement programme for AYUSH institutions across India. It supports Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (AAMs) and Integrated AYUSH Hospitals (IAHs) in adopting structured, patient-centric, and accountable practices. Through training, mentoring, and periodic assessments, the initiative ensures consistent service quality across traditional medicine systems, including Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, Sowa-Rigpa, and Homoeopathy.

Most AYUSH facilities function at the grassroots level with limited standardisation. This initiative brings essential quality assurance mechanisms to these institutions, supports improved service delivery in remote areas, and builds public trust. It also strengthens integration of AYUSH into the wider national health system through uniform certification.

To bring uniformity, quality, and accountability to AYUSH healthcare delivery across India by implementing NABH Entry-Level Certification standards in AAMs and IAHs. The initiative aims to build institutional capacity, improve patient outcomes, and embed structured protocols across traditional systems of medicine.
